      Home to Common Marmosets.

      Unless things have changed, YWP have Common Marmosets rather than Geoffroy's.

      Sorry, I stand corrected- I also seem to think Geoffroy's and Common are the same.

      so the marmosets have free run of these trees? I'm quite impressed, much better than a small cage with a few branches fixed to the walls. It looks a bit stark right now -- I'd add in some ground-cover, and maybe combine them with agoutis or something -- but I'm sure in summer it must be much more attractive (if maybe a little harder to see the marmosets :D)

      It is a nice enclosure- The Agouti's which YWP currently have are in the South America Viva, which is across from this enclosure. I did wonder how the Marmoset's didn't escape (Although they were confined indoors today) there was no electric fence or any objects stopping them from climbing up the fence.

      Marmosets up in those large trees....looking up into the sky....do you find it difficult to see, observe, enjoy them?
      The notion of marmosets "free" in such a space is terrific, I just wonder how satisfying it is for visitors.

      They were confined indoors today but the viewing wasn't that good for visitors if they were looking up in the tree. I saw one visitor today who commented on how disappointed they'd of been if the Marmoset would of been up the tree.

      @Jordan-Jaguar97,
      Thanks for the speedy reply.

      As I expected.
      I have seen other "free range" marmoset exhibits where the trees are lower (or oversized shrubs) and it works better.
      Of course not as authentic feeling in shrubs.
      I always think it's valuable for visitors to get some visceral understanding of how the animals live in the wild (I dislike okapi exhibits that resemble horse paddocks!)

      Yes, I believe Longleat have a walk through Monkey enclosure (Home to Goeldi's marmosets, Emperor Tamarins and a few others). There's a big group at YWP of around ten or so animals, most of the Marmosets were very active today, the group seem like a breeding group too- If YWP had so many of them then, most would probably not be up a/the tree.
