I would be very interested if anyone knew how Bindu the bull elephant was doing since moving here from Port Lympne. Were either of the calves mentioned sired by him??

Marlar was sired by Radza in zoo emmen,
Ming Jung is thought to be sired by Plai kongka, Maha Kumari was sired by Bindu The stillbirth was sired by Bindu and also this preganacy |

oh, and Bindu is doing great, he is not aggresive anymore in fact is found to be very peaceful,

She is expecting her baby in the Summer of 2009, probably July.
Btw: her name is also spelled Aye Shan May. The official website of Zoo Cologne is using both! Her name means Peaceful Girl |

hmmm, guess this confirms the stillbirth earlier this year was from Shu Thu Zar, there was some confusion apparently surronding that,

Does anyone have any updates of the Cologne herd as a whole. I remember when the 5 new females were introduced a few years ago there were problems (Thi Ha Phyu & Kreemblamduan) with Thi Ha Phyu remaining at the top.
But there are a number of recent videos ive seen (some are on youtube) showing females fighting??? |

yeah I have seen several vids as well, but that was resolved a while back, as several sites mention Thi Ha Phyu as the old and new matriach. The fights are pretty intense both cows had large wounds for a period of time.
