The name of the pregnant bonobo is "Ulindi" (born at Frankfurt Zoo in 1993). She is the dominant female at Leipzig. The father will be "Kuno" or "Limbuko", "Ulindis" favourite male is "Limbuko"....

One of the most important birth in this year is the male red duiker, born in february. Because since a few years, mostly females were born in europe and too less males, so every new male is highly welcome.

The two grevy zebra kids got names today. The male, born at March 29th, 2009 (dam: "Nora", sire: "Karibo") is called "Abasi", the female, born at March 21st, 2009 (dam: "Dolly", sire: "Karibo") is called "Lisha"....

The two little Indian sloth bears are called "Bodo" and "Bastel" (dam: "Ludmilla" wild born, sire: "Klaus").

    Births in May:

    0,0,2 Scimitar horned oryx

0,1 baringo giraffe "Emma" is definitely pregnant, 3 further females mated with the bull "Maximilian"; 0,1 (perhaps 0,2) lowland anoa is pregnant (birth expected in september), 0,1 white bearded gnu "Audrey"; 0,2 south african fur seals; by any chance 0,3 owl-faced-monkeys (the new male "Zuri" mated with both young females).

A new okapi bull, "Steve" (born 2007) arrived from Wilhelma Zoo Stuttgart. Elephant bull "Calvin" has been shipped to Ostrava Zoo yesterday.

The Zoo is building a new animal house close to the lion enclosure at the moment to keep African wild dogs soon.

The new Australia enclosure was opened in April. The visitors can walk between the australian animals.

Thanks BjoernN:) That raises a few more questions:

I asume that the wild dog exhibit is located where the old Australian exhibit was? So where is the new Australia and what species live in there?

The new wild dog enclosure will be situatued next to the lion enclosure at a empty grassland including the old musk deer exhibits at the "Bärenburg".

The new Australian exhibit is situated exactly there, where the old australian enclosure was.

Species: Red kangaroo, Red-necked wallaby, Emu, Australian Magpie goose, another kangaroo species will arrive soon

The rebuilding is already done, the pangolin is at his enclosure again. The best time to see him is 9-11 a.m.

Perhaps he will not be alone anymore in June - a female is still in quarantine at Taipeh Zoo....
