These are the two females I was told would be leaving (for Munich) when I was there in May. Its a pity they couldn't have gone to Bristol but there is obviously a 'waiting list' to establish new groups for this species and Munich were obviously further up than Bristol, having had a male from Wuppertal since April 2011 (if I read it correctly) whereas Bristol only got their two(castrated?) males quite recently.

To be the studbook keeper in this case would he/she have moved from a Zoo that was keeping Drills before?

its obviously a big help when acquiring females to set up a group!

Earlier this week a still unsex young was born in the Muenich gorilla-family. Mother of the baby is Bagira and it's her 7th young. Father is Roututu had it's his 16th young.
With the baby the group now contains 7 animals : the unnamed baby, Roututu, Bagira, Sonja, Neema, Sadiki und Kajolu.

Good news indeed. The mother is one of the two females(Kaduna & Afi) that was transferred from Port Lympne last year. I rather hoped they would have stayed in the UK- perhaps sent to Bristol to form a group there?- but there is evidently a waiting list for Zoos wanting to breed this species, and as Munich are the co-ordinators of the Studbook, its not surprising they got them first!;)

It was not the first birth, which was filmed. In Rhenen, Brno and in Japan there have been several polar bear births. In Munich it was the first birth, which was geflimt in color. The quality is much better.

On the top side are now the videos of births to see
