New species for 2014 will include Geladas Also mentioned by our friends at ActuZoo to open next year, was a South American themed area by the name Inca Forest, which should have featured a mixed enclosure for Spectacled Bears and Coati - However this appears to have since been dropped/put on ice
Animaltrainer Louis Knie Sen. is currently training 15 tigers at Zoo d'Amneville for their new attraction Tigerworld, wich will be opend in 2015
Here is an article in French. At the bottom are four thumbnail photos, the second of which shows a model of the arena. The tiger ring itself looks like a typical circus ring - kind of odd for a mainstream zoo. (Especially considering the increasing resistance to animal circuses in western Europe). Two African Pygmygoats and four Red River hogs born. Tiger World is open now-a spectacluar artificial rock temple with a show of nine tigers in a temple ruins stage with many sound and lights effects and music...circus has arrived at Amneville Zoo.....
Tiger world has at least caused a temporary suspension from EAZA for Amneville: Le zoo d'Amnéville perd son statut de membre permanent de l'EAZA | Zoos de France.com They are now a temporary member, so if nothing changes they will probably have to leave... I really like this decision as zoos are not a place for circus acts and to keep the anti-zoo lobby out that statement should be made by all zoos....
Wow-really good New-that's the only correct decison of EAZA. Now I'm curious, if teh Zoo will changeor even stop teh Tiger Show-but what could tehy doinside the expensive Temple isnetad of it ? Otherwise they can't risk to loose their EAZA Membership complete-that could mean, the Zoo could loose some EEp-Species...Dvur Kralove lost his Okapi Breeding pair after they were banend from EAZA.. Hopefully, Amneville is smart enough not to risk that. WithTiger World, Amneville gave circusses a defense for their welfare and shows of exotic wild animals.
The park has now gone into receivership, looks like tiger world has done for the owner. Abridged and translated by FB; The info of the day (08 January) the amenéville zoo has just been placed at his request in receivership. Despite a record turnover in 2015, the latter was not sufficient to absorb major investments from the zoo last year with tiger world. The Director had proposed to reschedule on 10 years loans originally on 7 years and asked for a loan of € 4,5 million to finance investments borne on own funds but among the twelve banks some have refused. Despite the situation, it won't change anything for the employees, visitors and the animals, the park remains open normally.
Tiger World appears to be a swing and a miss. Both financialy and from a animal welfare point of view. I've seen it for myself last year. I went in two days and there was only one show. Also the tigers couldn't be visited outside of the show. I found the building and introduction video more impresive than the show. I think the temporary suspension is a bit harsch and certainly much to late. Why didn't EAZA react when Zoo amneville first introduced it's plans. I personaly don't think zoos should do these circus-like shows
According to their website, the tigers can be seen outside the show. Zoo d'Amnéville - Nouveauté 2016
