Not at a zoo, but we have reptiles at our rescue and as permanent residents...

    Our residents are:

    - 6 foot female Red tailed Boa Constrictor (Boa constrictor constrictor)
-27 year old wild caught female Ball Python (Python Regius)
    -Male Crested Gecko (Rhacodactylus ciliatus)
-Male Blue Tailed Skink (Mabuya quinquetaeniata)
    -Ivory Kingsnake ( Lampropeltis getula)

    In Rehab:

-Common Boa Constrictor. Boa constrictor imperator
She is extremely emaciated having not eaten for a year, most likely due to a severe case of oral stomatitis and neglect...she was extremely dehydrated and is still shedding what appears to be at least five layers of unshed skin. Our vet thinks she's probably blind because her eyes have been covered and constricted by dead skin for so long.

    -Common Green Iguana (Iguana Iguana)
He was surrendered by a family that rescued him from their daughters classmate who was planning to kill him because he is sick. He's paralyzed from the waist down due to improper lighting and Vitamin D3/Calcium supplementation, which lead to Metabolic Bone Disease. He is slowly regaining control of his back limbs. Most iguanas in the pet trade are wild caught, quite the injustice, as this is a very common condition for iguanas to be surrendered with.

-Argentinean Black and White Tegu (Tupinambis merianae)
Hades was surrendered when his owner realized he would exceed 12 inches. He was wildcaught and sold to a pet store prior to that. He required two surgeries, one to remove a rock from his stomach and another to repair intestine that had been damaged by the rock. He's almost four feet long to the tip of his tail. Feeding him is fun because I'm a vegan and he's most definitely not! I am now accustomed to cleaning the fat off of various hearts, brains, and other internal organs. :D :p

We have had many other species come through our doors including Mountain Horned Dragons, Vietnamese Calotes, Veiled Chameleons, Green Basilisks, Bearded Dragons, Box Turtles, Red Eared Slider turtles, leopard geckos, golden geckos, house geckos, etc... all animals found within the pet trade.

I've always wanted a reptile for a pet, but my mum never let me, apparently it is extremly bad Feng Shui to have a cold blooded creature in your house,

    Just a pun (lol)!

Strange as people of Chinese origin do not have any qualms about consuming anything reptilian, be they snakes, lizards or turtles and tortoises ...

I am sure what you are saying is true, so why do not more Chinese indulge in Feng Shui, the world would be fuller of wildlife (hence no turtle crisis etcetera and no rat problem in the ricefields). :D

I currently keep an Argentine tegu (outdoors in warm months, hibernating inside in the winter), a Dumeril's monitor and one red acanthurus monitor. In the past I kept a Solomon Islands skink (lived about 7 years, an adult when I aquired it). They used to be fairly common here, but are tough to aquire these days, probably for the better due to new regulations.

    I have:

    • 1.1 leopard gecko (male is a super hypo tangerine carrot tail morph)
    • 1.0 bearded dragon
    • 0.0.2 tortoises (I think they're Hermanns but I'm not sure, they're offspring of 1960's "pet shop" tortoises).

When I get back from Australia I'll be getting a royal python :D
Edit: sorry to bump a seriously old thread! Never notcied before

Our beardie is from Dachiu US breeders, we actually had to go to Paris to pick him up! The only shop on the island is beyond awful and we've made a point of never supporting it in anyway. All of our animals either came to Jersey with me in 2007 or we've gone to the UK or France to pick them up :)

With beardies most of the "varieties" are not strictly morphs but line bred animals chosen for particular colour traits. Basically he's just a very pretty beardie :D his official lineage is Cawley Red x Psycho/Orange German Giant/Blood/Sandfire.

As for the snakes! Yes Hix, my intention is to breed the Mangroves, Redtails and Halmahera island boas.
The redtails are maybe a year away, as are the halmaheras and I think the mangroves will be a while, they're still quite titchy! :D
Oh! and the hognoses are only CB09's so a long way to go yet!
