A concept picture of the fabulous new Ape House at Frankfurt Zoo. Previously know as Bonoboland, this house will now be known as Borgori-wald (wald=forest). The outdoor enclosures will house orang-utans, bonobos and most special: Gorillas, eastern black-and-white colobus monkeys, diana monkeys and mandrills in the same outdoor enclosure.
The house is due to open in Febuary 2008.
The name change is the ridiculous net result of a Bern ad interim director trying to rout a former well respected zoo director. Borgori is no more exotic than the combined bonobo, gorilla and orang in the name.
The lesser primate introductions have been somewhat downgraded as I recall. Either no colobus, mandrills or diana monkeys. I think it is now only the colobus (but not entirely sure as news does not trickle out lightly in Frankfurt)!
