Some preliminary construction work has started earlier this year.
When Tallinn launched the news of this newborn they also launched a new campaign to collect donations for the Polarium.

That's great news! Whereabouts in the zoo is the new exhibit being built? Any idea of how many animals it can hold, or other details? Hopefully this birth will help them to raise the needed money.

The Polarium will be located by the Northern gates on right hand side.
Unfortunately I haven't seen any plans or conceptual drawings of the Polarium.
But I try to keep you posted when the project advances.

Does the project Polarium involve other species but polar bears?
Perhaps other species from polar climes?

Yes, animals from the Arctic will "colonize" the Polarium.

Thanks for the info advocate, I look forward to hearing how the project progresses. What species are currently in the awful cages in the area the polar bears are in?

The old barracks are inhabited by Baribal bear, Puma concolor, Striped hyenas, Red fox, Amur cat, European mink and Raccoons. There are also some temporary quarantine cages.

Polar bear Vaida was pts on Monday due tumor in pancreas.
She was much loved and she is greatly missed. She would have turned 30 this year.
Here's Vaida's daughter Friida with her cub on web cam.

Right, unfortunately I couldn't find any informative material on the project to share.
But I can grant you it looks great. There's Danish architect behind the idea.

Red river hogs born at Tallinn Zoo. Because the female didn't take care for the young, they have to be hand-raised.

Here's a Tallinn news clip from 3.07 to 3.32 you can see Polarium plans.
No futher information about the construction schedule . . . but they hope that a part of Polarium should be ready by the time when the cub is separeted from momma bear.
