I missed this species in Prague. How is the visibility in Berlin? Is it a common no-show?
    • lintworm
they are not missable I would say, for the aardwolf you need luck...

This seems like a nice enclosure. So Tierpark Berlin has all four the hyena species?
    • Maguari
      Yup, all four. :)

Never had any problems seeing Browns at Berlin (though I often have trouble elsewhere!) - as lintworm says, the Aardwolves are the tricky ones here.

Thanks. I know about the aardwolves. I'm not getting my hopes up for those.

How easily can you see spotted/striped hyena? I am desperate to see them!
    • Maguari
Pretty straightforwardly, in my experience. If you want to see hyaenas in Europe, this is the place to come!

Ok thanks :) It looks brilliant, thinking of visiting instead of Berlin zoo? My main thing I want to see is predators so bears, cats and dog species so is this better for that?

Well, if you're a zoofan and have the time, you should try visiting both the Zoo and the Tierpark. There are many rarities both places. There is some overlap in species, but also plenty only kept in one of them. Unless willing to miss a lot, don't plan on visiting both in a single day; they're big (Berlin Zoo is more than twice as large as London Zoo, and the Tierpark is much larger than Berlin Zoo). If I absolutely had to pick one, it would be the Zoo. There are more species of bears in the Zoo than in the Tierpark, and more cats in the Tierpark than the Zoo, but it should be mentioned that the Alfred-Brehm cat house and the sun bear enclosure IMO are the two weakest points in the entire Tierpark (updates to these enclosures are on the way/planned).
