Is there anybody here, who has recent information about bonobo "Mobikisi" at Apenheul. Is he still alive?? (ISIS for Apenheul Primate Park: 3,7 ["Redy", "Zamba", "Hongo", ?"Mobikisi"? - the lost number four])

That was also the reason why the 3 brothers of Planckendael moved to Apeldoorn, they would make the "sex balance" a little bit more fair. Mobikisi was at that moment very low in rang there... Lower then it should be...

But now it seems to be going good! There are even 3 female's pregnant!

I know, that "Zuani", "Liboso" and "Kumbuka" are pregnant. I became worried when I read the number of 3,7 at ISIS.

"Mobikisi" is supposed to leave Apenheul this year, so the Primate Park has to achieve a new male to breed with "Hortense" in the future....

A fourth female bonobo is pregnant at the Apenheul. To be hoped she is the female Hortense.

I hope it is "Jill"... All proven breeding males at the Apenheul are sons of "Hortense"....

According to insiders the pregnant animals are:
    Liboso (11)
    Her mother Zuani (17)
    Kumaka (9)

Jill (23) is not confirmed yet, but probable.

Not real inside info, you can read it on Homepage :)
An dutch article, but whit some nice facts to know...

Kumbuka will give birth as first in july. (she liked the male Zamba the most)
Zuani and Liboso had sex with the both males of Planckendael. Zuani has also some dead born youngster in the past by the way. The last male of Planckendael, Hongo, hasn"t reproduced hisself, but he likes the practice... :)

And like jwer told, the last is not yet confirmed, but almost certain!
    A pregnancy for Jill

Zamba is the father of Yohimba and Makasi.

Was Mobi also Hortense's son? Saw him in Stuttgart a few years ago; he seemed happy

MOBIKISI has been caught in the wild, he is not HORTENSE's son.

Ah that does explain things - although I assume he came from Plackandael along with Hongo, Zamba and Hortense? Also, does anyone know what happened to Lingala? And whether or not Kindu, one of the bonobos due to replace Hortense and her sons, is male or not?

MOBIKISI came to Apenheul in 1997 from Planckendael and was shipped to Wilhelma Stuttgart in 2010. LINGALA was shipped to Romagne. KINDU is a male, son of BONNIE and CLYDE, born at Cologne Zoo in 1984.

    OK. Thanks a lot BjoernN.
So are they coming from Cologne then? And when did Lingala move? Was it 2011 or 2012?
Also, do you know when and why Hongo died? And if Bolombo or Zamba are Kikongo's father?
As well as this, if your knowledge extends to this area of the park, whatever happened to Katja and Fien the orangutans? Then I'll be fully up to date with the great apes of Apenheul :D

LINGALA moved to Romagne 11.04.2011. It is still unknow who sired MONYAMA and KIKONGO. KINDU and BONNIE are going to move to Apenheul later this year.

KATJA moved to La Palmyre 25.11.2011, FIEN died 26.01.2008.
