In the smallest official zoo of the Netherlands at least 2 ( prop. even 3 ) Pere David's squirrels have been born. This species is only kept in a small number of zoos in Europe.
Visited this collection for the first time today and just today the Minks went on public display ! Very nice enclosure and very active animals.

A new female Artic fox arrived from Zie-Zoo. She will replace the old female which died shortly before Christmas.
New species for Artisklas: a Italian wall lizard ( Podarcis siculus ). The animal was found by a family which had bought some corn-salat at the super-market and after they discovered the animal, they contacted Artisklas where the animal is now recovering from its adventure.
White-throated geckos are kept at only 4 public collections in Europe and Artisklas is one of them. Last week the first young ( only 3 centimeters long ! ) was discovered in the enclosure.
I've never heard much about this zoo, but I just looked it up and I've got to say, it is one of the most aesthetically beautiful zoos I've ever seen!
Revisit after five years today and there were quite a few changes. Zebra mongoose (new group) and raccoon dogs are kept in new enclosures and the collection of the terrarium building has changed a lot with now several Central American species. I saw yellow-headed geckos for the first time.
More things Will change soon. The artic fox will become double its size, the barn owl aviary will be moved. The rhea exhibits will become bigger and some Mara will join in the exhbit, the oxolotll pool will move and improve. Keep it going
2 weeks ago a Whip-spider gave birth to a number of young, now another female is having a number of young on her back .
