Thanks for the links NZ Jeremy, and Zion truly looks like a disgraceful establishment. Based on your review and the photos above, it is amazing that animal rights groups haven't shut them down...yet.

they may have updated the website to try and deflect criticism. The Conservation page at least says that the white lions aren't a seperate subspecies. I tried to open the Donations page but it didn't work.

Thanks for those...

The enclosures are definitely a little larger than I remembered and look a little greener than they were when I went too...

just thought I'd add this in, because I just found out today. The entry fee to Zion Wildlife Park (the Lion Man's zoo) is $60 for adults and $30 for children aged TWO YEARS up to twelve years. $30 for your two year old baby!!! So for an average family of two adults and three kids, that's $210 out of your pocket. There's no student prices so if one of your kids is thirteen that's another $30 added on top of that. Crikey that's an expense day out for the family!

Its a guided tour, lasted about an hour when we went, it is the only way to get into the park...

Its quite prciy compared to other "behind the scene" tours I've been on but cheap compared to the two Auckland Zoo ones (which were however exponentially better)..!

I don't think Zion Wildilfe Park or the 48 big cats that inhabit it are long for this world...

i am so sick of this. he could run his park so much better than he does and even though his animals are all "wastes of space" he is living my dream and he is ruining it.

aaaaaahhhhh i just want to steal all the animals and do it right

on a side note i wrote back to them saying that i would still love to do volunteer work in the summer as i was supposed to go over now.

this could have been me !

i know i know!

i have been reading other stuff on the net about him mostly from "New Zealand reality tv" and even some people that knew him personally.

i feel so sad that he has wasted such an opportunity, inbreeding and declawing his cats, buliding enclosures that could have been so much better and more fulfilling for the animals and general wasting the full pontenial the park could have reached.

where else am i going to get the same hands on experience without going to america?

i feel so angry and sad!!! i was so excited when i went there. i aknowledged the flaws in the park but stupidly thought that if i went back i could do something about the lack of enrichment the cats have.

i now know that the pluses are FAR outweighted by the negative and i won't go over to new zealand.

...

i'm just going to go cry

Lion Man

@Panthera Leo- An associate of mine was told she had a job at Zion, sold her belongings, flew over to NZ only to find out that the job was not in existence. If such things happened at a reputable business they would soon be in the courts. Craig Busch seems only to get himself into trouble when he beats on women, oh yeah the occasional con on other people for cash.

He will exist as long as he is on TV. All of his funding comes from that source and hopefully soon the public will tire of his crap and change the channel.

the latest series of the Lion Man is starting this Sunday on tv2 (not that I'll be watching). The advert was focussing almost exclusively on white lions and white tigers.
