What are your opinions on marineland's dolphin situation?

Do you believe they should get more or not?

Not at its current state . It might have been alright in the 1960s/70s , but I think that they should concentrate more as a marine hospital .
The pools need to be larger ( imo ) if they are going to get more dolphins

its rather a moot point anyway, they aren't allowed to get any more dolphins. They applied for permits to catch or otherwise obtain dolphins and were denied. The Marineland will remain as it is, a rescue centre for injured seals and seabirds. Although I would assume if an injured dolphin was brought in they would care for it until (if) it could be released.

I agree. I think they should enlarge the dolphin pool and make it more interesting for dolphins and then take in some of the many that strand themselves, injured on NZ shores and rehabilitate/adopt them as appropriate.

I was there in March... The underwater viewing is closed to the public due to structural problems (OSH closed this), the pools are tiny, old and overpopulated...

The tour guide stated the council isn't willing to spend the 10 million NZD to upgrade to a point where they would be able to get more dolphin and they are having no luck getting private investors... All in all a place going downhill...
