Anyone know if I-uri and I-tam are going to have anymore babies.

It was so sad I-uri rejected Ibernani and Iwani but the keepers have done a great job hand-raising I-wani!

Hi again. There are no plans to breed from Itam and Iuri in the future. Iwani continues to thrive on his own and gets lots of attention and interaction from his keepers to keep him occupied And I hear Iwani's older brother Irian is doing really well over in Australia.

Iwani's brother you're referring to is Irian right? Well, he's a dad now! (So Iwani's an uncle )

Has there been any progress in finding Iwani a partner? Are his parents still at Auckland Zoo?

Yep lots happening in this department too! Iuri and Itam are heading off to retirement down in Hamilton next week - Hamilton have adapted an enclosure for them and it's looking fantastic.
Then in afew months we will be getting a young female, Kera, from Mogo Zoo to partner with Iwani.

Yep is great for Itam and Iuri, and great for us cos it's only a brief road trip to go visit! They will be missed as have been at the zoo for decades! But big picture is the breeding program and will be so nice to have some baby Kera-wanis swinging around

Yep, Itam came from Berlin way back in 79 I think it was. And Iuri from Adelaide in the 80s. (He is 30, she is 25)

There no spring chickens then! Thanks for updating me and I hope Iuri and Itam enjoy a well earned retirement in Hamilton. One last question do you know how many offspring they have produced together?

Sorry not off the top of my head, would have to look at the zoo records when I'm back at work. I only know of Irian (who has now bred in Adelaide) and Iwani (and his twin who didn't survive.) I suspect there have been more though.
