So, by you saying this, are you telling us that #'s 2, 5, and 6 are the ones that have been guessed correctly? You said there were 3 spot-on answers, but did not specify which were the ones correctly guessed. If that's the case, then I can't believe it. I'm confident No. 1 is a Tibetan golden cat. (Yes, I'm aware it's already been guessed.)
No! Number 3 is, without a doubt, a Southern aardwolf. (I can't take much credit for getting this though, you gave us all a huge hint by directing us to your gallery. )
And I'm not sure if you'll be willing to answer questions like these, but I'll ask anyway. Is Number 4 a felid of some sort?
I have deliberately not made clear which have been guessed correctly - so any, all or none of the ones mentioned to be represented by gallery photographs may have been guessed. I am playing it this way as the win goes to the first person to get all six right, rather than the person who has got the most first-correct-guesses.
By the by, the total is currently four correct answers floating around with a very close answer and a slightly less close answer making up the other two.
Here is a hint to speed things along - we have two Edinburgh and two Hamerton photographs in the mix, along with a Leipzig and a wild animal.
1.Asian golden cat (Catopuma temminckii) 2 3. Southern Aardwolf (Proteles cristatus cristatus) 4 5Ansell´s mole-rat (Fukomys anselli) 6
*sigh* Seems like no one is even attempting to put the right answers together now so I will make things a bit easier and say which numbers have had correct answers, and which have not. You will still have to work out which answers were the correct ones though! 1) Correct 2) Near-miss 3) Correct 4) Correct 5) Incorrect 6) Correct Remember I have also told you all where the photographs were taken!
1) Tibetan Golden Cat Pardofelis temminckii tristis 2) Northern Lynx Lynx lynx lynx 3) Southern Aardwolf Proteles cristatus cristatus 4) British Stoat Mustela erminea stabilis 5) 6) Montane Purple-Faced Langur Semnopithecus vetulus monticola ~Thylo
1) Tibetan Golden Cat Pardofelis temminckii tristis 2) Canada Lynx Lynx canadensis canadensis 3) Southern Aardwolf Proteles cristatus cristatus 4) British Stoat Mustela erminea stabilis 5) Malagasy Giant Rat Hypogeomys antimena 6) Southern Purple-Faced Langur Trachypithecus vetulus vetulus ~Thylo
Currently we are up to 5/6. It does not exactly help that the only person playing is Thylo! But I will combine all the hints thus far - including which guesses were incorrect - and if no one gets the last straggler then I will be amazed. 1) Correct 2) Correct 3) Correct 4) Correct 5) Incorrect - Taken at Leipzig, not Ansell's mole-rat, North Luzon cloud rat, South Luzon Cloud Rat or Malagasy Giant Rat. 6) Correct
We now have 6 correct answers floating around..... just need them in the right order! (Thank God for that......)
1) Tibetan Golden Cat Pardofelis temminckii tristis 2) Canada Lynx Lynx canadensis canadensis 3) Southern Aardwolf Proteles cristatus cristatus 4) British Stoat Mustela erminea stabilis 5) Fat Sand Rat Psammomys obesus 6) Southern Purple-Faced Langur Trachypithecus vetulus vetulus ~Thylo
Can I suggest that we stick to full species identifications. The subspecies just become a guessing game, rather than an ID challenge, in most cases.
