And very nice signage it is too, plenty to read about while viewing the aviary. Most of the native birds had signs like these.

Does this place actually have blue ducks?

Yup, at least three.

Blue Ducks are reasonably common in NZ zoos, with at least 10 zoos holding them.

Somebody recently posted a picture of what they said was the last blue duck outside of New Zealand. It was in England I think - maybe at one of the Wetland Trust zoos?

Esplanade Aviaries in Palmy has a pair, and Nga Manu does too apparently, although I never saw them there. There are 8 holders listed on ZAA census (total of 29 ducks), plus Staglands and Mt Bruce, making the 10. Willowbank doesn't have any now does it?

The Esplanade has quite a decent native bird collection: Brown Teal, Blue Duck, Kea, Kaka, Antipodes Island Parakeet, Red-crowned Parakeet and Silvereyes. The Blue Ducks are very difficult to see, as their aviary is ridiculously overgrown.
