      7 (or 8) elephants? :eek: Since when are visible to the public? and from where come the new individuals? thanks!

      Surely each of thoose young elephants has a mother close by! That adds up to allot of elephant births very close together. Also obviously allot of mothers somewhere.There is a story here!!!

      When have they arrived to Bioparc?
    • Yassa
      The calves have not been born in Bioparc and must have arrived without their mothers, because the Bioparc until recently had just 3 non-breeding females.

      I known this fact (the calfs are not birth in bioparc) but my question is from what zoo/s they arrive to bioparc and when?
    • KEEPER
      Yes, Jambo and 3 adult females already in Bioparc, Kito was expected from Colchester soon...but and the others? from Germany maybe?

      Wherever they came from, they look too young to be away from their mothers!
      I assume the plan is to form a breeding herd now?

      perhaps a bit useless, because i've just posted this in the trhead about these elephant, but;

      From what i´ve heard Valencia was planning to import some young animals from africa. Apperently they are already there :) I believe 6 animals in the ages 4 to 10 years old were to be imported from a refugecentre near the krugerpark. They were born at the centre, but due to the high numbers of elephants in the park these could not be released into the park.
      (this is just a rumour i heard, so i could be wrong offcourse..)

      None of germany, that I'm sure.
