About 2 weeks ago, their Northern lynx female escape from the zoo. Linda Olofsson at agency of Västerbotten County says to SR/Radio Sweden, that she was critical to the zoo about the fences around the park. She also told for the reporter, if the zoo not to fix their fence in near future. It's impossible to have the zoo open for public in future.
It is one thing for an animal to escape a zoo, but it takes a rather insipid hot headed no good bureacrat to maintain this kind of populistic rhetoric. So, ´Ms. Right´ would effectively have to relocate the entire zoo animal collection elsewhere. Well sadly, bureacrats are good at putting things down when they do not regard them as needed (in other words not the economic growth fodder domesticated kinds). We only need to consider how the wolf population is being dealt with here!!! I really hope Scandinavians will stand up to this kind of populistic public outrage drivel! Aside, even a "zoo" habituated northern lynx could be quite fine out in the wildlands of Sweden as it is. Further the population is not as secure as one might like to care or .... think! Hope, the Swedish Zoo Confederation steps in on behalf of the Lycksele Zoo.
