    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    Hi
My family and I are keen zoo enthusiasts from the UK. In August we will be on holiday on a cruise in the Baltic. We are very keen to fit in a visit to Skansen zoo and museum (we have visted some of the city's other highlights on previous trips).
Is it very easy and quick to get from the quay to the zoo and is the best way by taxi, tram or bus?

Another cheekier question is are there any offers or discount vouchers for entry to the zoo that I should search out in advance ; ) (we are two adults a 7 yr old and a baby).

    Any advice appreciated.

Hello! I'm sorry I haven't replied to this thread earlier.

It's indeed very easy to get to Skansen from the quay. Take a bus from the quay (several bus lines pass there) to Slussen. At Slussen you change to a ferry ("Djurgårdsfärjan") which will take you to Djurgården, it takes less than 10 minutes. After that is it a very short walk (max 5 minutes) to Skansen's main entrance.

I would recommend to buy the Stockholm Card which gives you free entrance to Skansen (and Skansen-Aquarium) and free travel by public transport. If you can get it before your arrival, it will definitely save you money.

    Welcome to Stockholm! :)

    Thanks Jodea.

My trip is in two weeks time so I am now very excited about my Baltic zoo extravaganza.

Gila monsters are bred by many reptile keepers in Europe. It surely wouldn't even be the first breeding in a European zoo would it? Maybe there are some translation errors in there.

The article .. is errored in translation. Allthough I would have to say 10 years ago gila monster and beaded lizard were rarely bred in European zoos. The private herptile breeders have always had a few step forwards from most herp collections in zoos and it is not about to change right now.

Skansen has a new frog exhibit

You can see a bit in this clip (the focus is mainly on the Crown Princess and Princess Estelle though)
