@AD: you are flying to southern Oregon just to see this black African Wildcat? That is dedication my friend! If you contact the zoo then maybe they can give you some kind of special tour considering how far you are coming from.
They are giving me a special photo tour, but it is not because they are being extra nice. It is because I am selling a kidney to finance the tour at the rate they charge photographers. As you mentioned in your trip report, that is how they make their money. I will have two hours with a dedicated keeper and whatever cats I want. For the wildcat, they will lock out the lions and put the wildcat in its enclosure and I will be inside with it. I will be staying in Crescent City for a few days and spend the rest of the time exploring and photographing the coastal redwoods. And no, I will not be visiting Ocean World near my hotel, especially after your report!
