If this is a true F.s. lybica and not a F.s. catus hybrid, then this may be the single most important photo ever posted on ZooChat!

      Hyperbolism, much? ;)

Not much, only when it is necessary! :p

I would not be surprised if some very clear photos of this cat appear on ZooChat some time next month. ;)

Haha, so have you established the subspecies and pure bloodline with certainty? :)

@AD: you are flying to southern Oregon just to see this black African Wildcat? That is dedication my friend! If you contact the zoo then maybe they can give you some kind of special tour considering how far you are coming from.

They are giving me a special photo tour, but it is not because they are being extra nice. It is because I am selling a kidney ;) to finance the tour at the rate they charge photographers. As you mentioned in your trip report, that is how they make their money. I will have two hours with a dedicated keeper and whatever cats I want. For the wildcat, they will lock out the lions and put the wildcat in its enclosure and I will be inside with it.

I will be staying in Crescent City for a few days and spend the rest of the time exploring and photographing the coastal redwoods. And no, I will not be visiting Ocean World near my hotel, especially after your report!

why do all the cages in these photos look like chicken runs thrown up in some redneck's back-yard?
    • Arizona Docent
Because they were designed by the same architectural firm that designed the Aspinall parks! :p
