Are there any cheetah keepers on the list?

I was wondering if you could answer a few questions about your collection if you do.

We have a couple of cheetahs that vomit regularly and I am trying to figure out why and how to relieve the issue.

If you could respond with as many details as you can about how your cheetahs are housed, what they eat, when they eat, any medications or supplements provided(probiotics, enzymes?)
What typical day is like, what is their surroundings like (other species nearby, lots of guest access etc), how much training do you do with them?
Do they vomit? if so how often? Have you seen any early onset kidney issues or other ailments?
Anything else you can think of I want to hear all about your cheetahs!

    Thank you!

this seems like the sort of question you should be taking to your vet, or at the least contacting other zoos directly instead of going onto an internet forum.....

    Hi
The vets are very much involved and I am also in contact with many keepers nationwide as well as internationally personally.
I would just like to know peoples situations and get the broadest idea that I can about the different scenarios people keep cheetahs in.
I thought this might just be one more way to get in touch with people.

Sadly, this is more of a forum for zoo enthusiasts and not zoo professionals. I hope to be proven wrong, but I doubt there are many big cat keepers on here.

okay that is a better situation then. There is nothing in your post to say whether you are a private keeper or from a zoo, and we sometimes get private keepers coming on the forum asking questions like this as their first choice which is just silly because there is no way to know whether the person responding knows anything at all or is just a pretender.

    I see,
I apologize for not giving more detail - I am still rather new here.

I am at an AZA accredited facility in the US and just trying to hit all the bases I can. I noticed there was quite a UK presence here and thought it might be worth a shot to see if I could touch base with any of them to compare and contrast notes.

there are many zoo keepers and zoo volunteers on here but it is by majority a zoo enthusiasts site. Hopefully you will get some of the keepers answering your questions though.

Call the main Dallas Zoo number and ask to speak to Susan Greer. She might be able to put you in contact with someone who can answer your questions.

Thank you! I actually am personal friends with some of the Dallas keepers so I have that one in the bag. ;)
