Does anyone know a good site with lists of every known species?

    I'm trying to find a list with every known species in it. Are there any good ones on the net? Thanks.

    I'm not aware of a single list of all animal-species but there are several lists with smaller groups of animals, for example reptiles : THE REPTILE DATABASE .
    I also guess it will be imposible to get a list of all species because :
    a ) every year around 20.000 (! ) new species are discribed and
    b) names of animals are changing all the time when scientists review a group of animals.
    I think it's best to search the net for smaller groups and look if a list of this group is in existence ! I wish you much luck !

    arkive is a great site with great pictures, videos and information on thousands of species and it is expanding all the time.

    Encyclopedia of Life is working towards that goal. It is a massive cross-collaborative site that farms data from many sources.
