Couldn't believe there where some in Europe but Zootierliste indeed mentions Dublin as former keeper of the species ! Some were on loan from Peking from March 1987 to September 1987 at Dublin !
There were golden snub-nosed monkeys several times in US and Canada zoos on loan in 1986 - 87 - 88 years: Columbus, LA, Minnesota, Toronto. The last San Diego animal died in 2008.
As I remember it Dublin was trying to get giant pandas and the monkeys were a bit of a compromise. But the zoo made the best of it. I remember a huge ad campaign supporting the loan. They had billboard posters at the airport and all over Dublin.
oops, misread your post Kifaru (thought you asked if there were any outside China and NE/SE Asia). In addition to the ones in Hong Kong, there's a group at Everland in South Korea. It has also bred there in recent years.
