Does anyone out there know if there are any zoos in the world have all four of the great apes; orang-utan, gorilla, chimp and bonobo?
    Thank you :D

Fort Worth Zoo and Leipzig Zoo also have all four species.

    Excluding Homo sapiens, right?:D

As far as I know, no facility outside of Africa other than Antwerpen Zoo currently keeps Eastern gorillas (Gorilla beringei). Therefore, "all" is not entirely correct. "Most (current Hominidae species)" would be more accurate, including the two species of orang-utan, two species of gorilla, two Pan species (bonobo, chimpanzee) and the odd human species (which is only rarely displayed). ;)

Thanks guys. I did mean type (e.g. gorilla, orangutan, bonobo, chimp) :D I heard somewhere about a German website that tells you which species are kept where in Europe (and possibly the US)? Anyone know its name?

Dierenpark Wassenaar in the Netherlands - which closed 1985 - also had 4 species of apes and was the first and still only zoo in the Netherlands which also bred all 4 species.

Columbus and Cincinnati both have bonobos, gorillas, and orangutans.
Fort Worth has all four TYPES.
No zoos have all 7- chimpanzees, bonobos, western gorillas, eastern gorillas, humans :), Bornean orangutans, and Sumatran orangutans.

Curious if Apenheul will ever get chimpanzees? As Vallee de Singes have a successful bachelor group, I would have thought it possible. They just need to find an island :p

would surly have to include billy apes(giant chimp) as another? seem they are as different to chimps as Sumatran and bornean orangs are to one another??? would also make a great exhibit for a themepark or commercial zoo that likes wow animals with beastly stories for the visitors, can see the signage now

killer apes that kill and eat big cats! :)

Despite their significant differences, these apes are currently identified as a colony of eastern chimpanzees (Pan troglodytes schweinfurthii), of which none are housed in Europe or the UAE at present. But I would genuinely like to see both Romagne and Apeldoorn to get all four types of great ape, think it would be wonderful to see and they could definitely pull it off.

The chances of Apenheul going into chimpanzees are about 1% I guess though, they have totally different priorities.
