Here's a video that really gets under my skin. The girl in it does completely unacceptable stuff with the Golden-Lion Tamarins, she teases some of the animals (GLT's, Sandhill Cranes, Red Fox), and she chases those poor Guinea Fowl. Judging from where she is near the cranes, she also crossed that stand-off barrier for the cranes. How rude to the animals. They also mistook a lot of the animals:
Howler Monkey= Saki Monkey
Yacare Caiman= Alligator

Wow, I expected a video with a kid teasing the animals..
Why would an adult chase the Guinea Fowl like that? And then upload it on Youtube? Is it supposed to be funny? How stupid..

The only time I've ever bothered the Guinea Fowl at Beardsley was when I was walking out of the Rainforest Building, and pressed up against the exit door, were about 10 Guinea Fowl. To exit, I had no choice but to open the door, which sent the Guinea Fowl scrambling the moment the door opened the teensiest bit.
But this is completely unacceptable, especially for an adult. Beardsley's staff are often around when ever someone has a question for the animals, which is good, but never seem to be around when someone harasses the peafowl and Guinea Fowl. Thankfully, I saw one of the staff members see a boy harassing peafowl and she told him to get away from them. The mother didn't seem to care at all and just left with her son, but to the Peafowl, justice had been done.

When people call every orca Shamu, even though she has been dead for 40 years and no orca in captivity has ever been named that again.

the name Shamu was trademarked by Seaworld and has been used for several killer whales during the shows over the years.

It didn't really bother me, but it was probably the funniest thing I've ever heard. I was at the Bronx Zoo in April, eating at the Somba Village overlooking the Baboon Reserve, and this kid next to me says to his [sibling, I imagine?], "Look at that- that- groundhog up there. (He was talking about a hyrax )
-"What groundhog?"

-"Right up there [on the rocks]. You know, the groundhog? The one that makes the shadow and that's why they call it a leap year?"

I get annoyed by all of the following:

People thinking the best way to get an animal to come nearer to you is to yell at it and make silly noises and move about a lot. All of those things have exactly the opposite effect.

Adults who seem to have no interest in interacting with or educating their kids. I've seen quite big kids point at geese and go "look at the big chicken" and one point at a swan and go "coo that's a big duck" and ma/pa/revelant adult with mobile phone makes no effort to explain the significant difference between a Canada Goose/Swan and a chicken.

This is more a park than a zoo issue but the two parks I go to (Richmond and St James's) have respectively a large wild deer population and a large captive waterfowl collection - out of control dogs and there moronic sub-human owners who think it's just fine to let the dog go swimming in the lake and running after the captive waterfowl because "he's doing no harm". The owners should be put to sleep and the dogs given to people who can look after them responsibly.

Disrespect for primates - who are often far smarter than the humans gawking at them. Stand back a bit. Be quiet. Act as you would do if you walked into the home of another human being. Give them a little dignity.

People who spend exactly three seconds at each exhibit before dashing on. I know most zoos are big and you want to see as much you can but bear in mind the quality of your experience with the animals as well as the quantity you can tick off the list at the end of the day.

Sounds like some of my neighbors.
I also got annoyed when I was watching a hippo at Busch Gardens Tampa, while this chubby British kid just kept saying to the hippo "You're a fatty." In my mind, I just thought, "Look who's talking."
