Swim with the crocodiles

I have been thinking about an enclosure where you swim in a dam with with fresh water crocodiles with 2 chainmail swim suit and 2 wet suits and a scuba diving air tank what do you think of an idea like this

 

Messy for the human, enriching for the croc! Very much a "once in a lifetime" experience!

 

Scuba diving immediately rules out a lot of visitors, to date most similar concepts involve snorkelling in a cage. The chainmail won't be too helpful. More damage is caused by the immense pressure of a crushing crocodile bite than the sharpness of the teeth.

Sounds great to me-so I'm still waiting for the Stonefish-Touchpool in aquariums,or the"Total expierence" petting enclosure with King cobra and spitting cobra-to bring city kids closer to nature.

 

Better doing that with hundres of box jellies instead of crocodiles-you start

 

Better to make it like Cochrane Polar Bear Habitat - the pool divided by glass panels.

Problem now is not really (small) crocodiles biting, but inconvenience of a heavy suit and disease transmission between people and animals.

There was some crazy talk about visitors swimming alongside animals in renovated Berlin Tierpark (meant to include a swimming pool in a zoo), but nothing came out.

 

Fresh water crocs don't even feed on mammals let alone humans. So your saying I should drop the wait of the suit to 1 wetsuit and 1 chainmail wetsuit

 

No wetsuit, and no chainmail. Freshies should be no problem, Pygmy Freshies would be even better. The problem will be idiot swimmers who want to 'play' with the crocs, as they might get bitten.

Of course, no government authority in Australia would sign off on something like this.

This reminds me of a totally awesome T-shirt I saw online. I wanted to buy it and wear it to zoos, but it has swear words and I don't want to risk getting kicked out.

Well they do it with sharks at underwater world and those shark stingrays and large cod would more likely kill you then the fresh water crocs

 

In the heyday of Chipperfield's Circus they had an act "Zira the girl who swims with crocodiles". A large tank containing the crocodiles was pulled into the ring, "Zira" wearing a swim suite entered the water and swam around the tank with them, all well and good until one night the crocodiles were a bit livelier than what they should have been, one grabbed Zira by the neck resulting in her having to have numerous stitches, and back in with them the next night,what a trouper!

 

this proposal is for the sensation seeking wannabees/nobrainers of deceased Steve Irwin. Go to Texas rattlesnake roundup and crawl into sleeping bag naked filled with venomous rattlesnakes.

 

Can't argue with that logic, I'd forgotten how many cod-related deaths occurred here last year.

When I was a kid, my family went to a lot of local fairs and such. One common show was one where two guys would wrestle alligators, and the only reason to go was to see if one of them got bit. We did eventually see that, I guess it happened too fast for most audience members to notice but one of the guys got a nasty bite on his shoulder. But he went on with the show like nothing happened.

 

And your saying your opinion is what same with you animal friendly

 

This was when I was a kid.

 

There was a TV show in the UK about swimming with various crocs around the world and it was brilliant. Yes it could work most of of the time (they are still animals at the end of the day and can and will bite) the problem is as Hix says no way would any authority allow such an activity.
In a world of being sueing macdonalds for being fat, it would destroy a business as soon as someone got cut on a rock let alone bitten!
