Hi! I'm not sure if this is the right place to post, if it isn't I do apologize. After checking out the AZA site, some of the jobs posted say that it's required to have venomous snake training done. I'm not looking for a job right now, I'm only 17 haha, but would it be possible for me to get the training done over the summer? (I'll be 18 then) And if so, where exactly would offer it? I have experience with many other snakes, including large constrictors, but no experience when it comes to venomous snakes.

I too have experience with venomous snakes, but all of them are lawyers and politicians.

I think that's an awful thing to say. I keep several snakes, some of them with nasty tempers, but I would never call them names like "lawyers" or "politicians".

    :p

    haha Hix :)

I have done two venomous snake courses in Australia, they were a snake catching/relocating course and a husbandry course. In Australia there are a few courses run across the country, most are run over 1-2 days and cost a couple of hundred dollars varying with company and other factors.

I have only read other people's posts from a reptile forum about their experience in the US, from what they say they are required to get 100hrs experience under a current "hot" keeper before they can apply to keep them themselves. That is in California and I think someone else was from Florida. I have no clue as to whether this is common across states or not, this is also for private keeping, so unsure as to how it translates to employed keeper positions.

Otherwise just take a holiday in Aus over the summer :) Can't go wrong with that!
