Hi!

I always have been fascinated about whale watching but I've never done it. I did some research on the web and found that the best place to see Blue Whales is at Long Beach in California. I live at the other side of the world so I'm first planning to go to Iceland . In the towns of Husavik and Olafsvik it's possible to make a 3 hours during tour in the ocean to see whales. I think this must be a spectaculair and beautiful moment! I wondered if there were people here who went whale watching? Where? What's your expierience with it?

There are helicopter blue whale flights of the coast of tasmania her is Aus (me thinks) could possibly be victoria. hadn't heard of whale watching from a helicopter before but it was quite a sight, and I didn't realise we had blue whales so close to us.

I went whale watching for the first time last August. It was on Vancouver Island, just off the southwest coast of British Columbia, Canada. The entire excursion took about 3 hours, and was about $90 per person.

I've known some people to see large pods of killer whales (orcas) all around their boats, but we saw only a single whale in the entire 3 hours. The whale that we did see on numerous occasions was a massive humpback, and we followed it at a safe distance. There were also several dolphins that surfaced near the boat. The disappointment at not seeing more whales was offset by the fact that the boat ventured off to a small group of rocky islands where we saw steller sea lions, harbour seals, and a pair of elephant seals. You never know what you'll end up seeing, and each experience is completely different.

Yes it's true what you say. I think it must be amazing . I'm living in Belgium so my first trip will be to Iceland. Not very far and you also have the opportunity to whale watch there . I really would like to see a Blue Whale, they are sooo spectacular! Bur it's a fact that you never know what you'll see...always a surprise.

I've been whale watching in Maine (Fin, Minke, Humpbacks) and the Saint Lawrence Seaway (Belugas). I got to see tons of whales, especially in Maine. If you time it right out in California, you may also get to see the Gray Whale migration. Didn't see a blue whale out in Maine, but there was a possibility - they had been seen, but not as often as the other species.

the Japanese run fantastic tours in Antartica. you can get up close to minkes and a few hump backs.

I went on a boat at hervey bay in queensland and saw two adults and a calf and we watched them for about two hours while they played around the boat.

Boof, that apparently went right over everyone's head!

I'd like to get up real close to a few Japanese whaling boats with a torpedo or two!
