the shows are certainly not better than in any Thai croc farm...and they are not educational

I disagree with your last statement. When I was there a few years ago I found the croc presentation to be VERY educational.

Can't comment on Thailand as I haven't been there.

If the only form of zoo education you accept is a dry presentation inside the zoo's school building, then it is not educational. But it is educational if you accept to there being some truth in what the late Walt Disney once said:

"I would rather entertain and hope that people learned something than educate people and hope they were entertained."

Have you been to Australia Zoo or is your opinion based only on watching the Crocodile Hunter series? I have been there and while one should rather read a book if one wants to find out how many eggs a Saltwater Crocodile lays or where it lives, the show is great to exhibit the sheer physical strength and cunning behavior of this animal.

I know this is an old comment, but Id like to add that YES the main purpose of the educational factor at the Australia zoo's croc show is to exhibit the sheer power and potential of these dinosaurs to help people better understand what they are able to do in order to respect such a magnificent animal in their territory. To both prevent attacks and human(and croc) fatalities :)
