      I wonder how they keep the tall grass from being grazed? Is it protected by hot wires or simply unappetizing?

      It's not a particularly appetising plant called Lomandra, probably L. longifolia which is a very popular garden or edging plant. I've kept it in aviaries with Australian Parrots and they tend to leave it alone.
