This is a blue billed currasow chick that hatched in the Aviario Nacional. It is the first product of the blue billed Currasow conservation programme lead by ACOPAZOA (Colombian Zoo association) Hopefully there are more to come.

      Nice to see the entire Colombian zoo community is on board for this conservation breeding program too. :) (this brings reminders of the Saguinus leucopus program that is now really breaking new ground).

      Totally agree, actually there are several projects lead by ACOPAZOA, this one, The Andean Condor one and the Saguinus Leucopus, which hopefully one day will make it to Europe if the Environmental ministry aproves their departure.... For now we can only wait.
