      Only a single one?:(

Yes, a lady donated it in addition to some Budgerigars and a Diamond Dove. Quite a few new finches should be arriving soon; as far as I remember these should include more Stars.

I'm surprised they took them in PA I stopped accepting donations from the public, 20 years ago when the aviary I ran in the park i worked in lost 80 budgies about a week after we last accepted some unwanted and I'm sure infected budgies. I never did find out what had killed them. But until I left I refused to accept any unsolicited birds. I hope these ones work out for Sewerby

I think probably all of the Budgies at Sewerby have been donated plus quite a few other birds. Someone donated around 45 Budgies last year and there has been at least one other donation between that one and the latest one. The Budgies live with a Bourke's Parakeet that was donated a couple of years ago. Without tempting fate I do not know of any health problems having arisen. If a problem of any kind is likely to arise a donated bird will be housed away from its conspecifics, for example the Diamond Dove that was donated last week is in with the Budgies as there are Diamond Doves with chicks in the aviary that usually houses the species.
