Near the entrance to the zoo there is an Animal Encounters zone with lots of these small cages containing a variety of creatures. Staff members stand around waiting for visitors to enter the zoo and a number of the animals can be brought out, petted and held, and then placed back into their cages. I happened to be at the zoo while it was closing and some of the species were removed from the tiny cages and taken into a large, barn-like building but I'm not sure if all of them were transported in such a fashion. I highly doubt that the off-show accommodation is much bigger than what is shown in this photo and it annoys me when exotic animals are taken in and out of cages all day long to be held by visitors.
