      Nice photo and good job getting the eyes and head sharp (considering this was at a time when cameras were strictly manual focus).

      As noted in my comments on your Wassenaar thread, I suspect this individual is tristis but cannot 100% rule out the possibility it is an unusually gracile dominicanorum.

      I have found an undated Wassenaar guidebook , presumably from my October 1979 visit , it is totally in Dutch . There is a colour photo of a golden cat in profile , showing the head , shoulders and part of back . The shoulders and visible part of back are unspotted . It could be the above individual , difficult to tell due to such different angles of view .

      One of my dream photos is to see and photograph the ocelot morph of the golden cat. Maybe one will pop up somewhere, some day?

      @Arizona Docent There isn't any ocelot morph in captivity now but this morph is widespread and common in central and western China populations, thus maybe you can cross your fingers that some ill or orphaned individuals will be rescued from the wild and enter the zoo populations in future :)
