\'White\' form South African Lions (Panthera leo krugeri). There are stacks of these strange animals now - and ironically they\'re the only African Lions of known-subspecies origin in the UK...

That is an amazing exhibit with the water behind it.

There's a hell of a lot of lions in this photo, but most of the general public adore seeing anything white and thus "exotic".

I wonder if West Mids know how contraception works
Maybe they should try it with their males they may find it stops the breeding! But then again more White Lion cubs means more visitors which means more money so its the Zoo gaining money not giving any thought on how this could affect the lions.
Its such a shame if this Safari Park was looked after by somone who knew what they where doing and who cared about the animals maybe none of this mess with the 'White' Animals would of happened.
Didnt mean to affend any West Mids Supporters!
Regards

I have been there several times and still thought 'oh they have water behind them don't remember that'

I have just booked a small zoo tour for July so will be going to West Midlands - hope the lions don't look as crowded as they do in the photo!

This is a little unfair to say it should be looked after by someone who knows what they are doing, both Bob Lawrence (the boss) and Angela Potter (deputy) do a fine job, I suggest you look online to see the work they do in Namibia as well as the good work they do at the park (Angela hand rears many animals at home if they are rejected by the parents, this doesn't sound like people who don't know what they are doing.

I know 'white animals' arn't to everyones taste but the above quote is off the mark IMHO.

I didnt quite mean to say anything against the owners im sure they are fine people who have good ideas but its the 'White Aspect' and the breeding that i think should have something done about it.
I have huge respect for people who hand-rear animals and one day i would love to myself, but of course it is the last option.
Surely they may know what this breeding of the Whites is doing to the gene pool? and all the aspects of pride life etc.Whites where a brilliant idea but the breeding has gone too over the top now.
Again in this post i do not want to affend anyone,Regards
