In a video on the zoos website about the baby gibbon it shows lots of hay or dead grass on the bottom of Tropic World so i do not know what will happen to the otters in the exhibit since the water areas are probally covered.

Random fact but the Brookfield zoo releases it golden lion tamrins in the forest area in the salt lake nature trail so if you go in the summer you might be able to see them.

Lots of fun. I remember several zoos used to have free roaming glt's (as training for reintroduction to the wild) but it seems like not done much anymore. I heard an interesting talk by one of the release project people back at AZAD 2005 in DC. Surprisingly, they found that tamarins that had gone through this type of training (free ranging on zoo grounds) did NOT have a higher success rate in the wild than those that lived in traditional enclosures. She said the on-site (Brazilian forest) pre-release training was much more important than any previous zoo training they had received.

I do not think they will release them because the same pair has done this for a couple of years.

I was told today that the American Alligators are no longer at the zoo. Two Orinoco Crocodilies will be taking their exhibit in The Swamp.

Nice, they got a critically endngered species! I think only 4 zoos in the U.S. have them Zoo Miami, Gladys Porter Zoo, Dallas World Aquarium and Brookfield Zoo.
