I have a question about the Congo Gorilla Forest. The Bronx Zoo's website leaves the impression that their are pygmy marmosets on display in CGF. This doesn't make sense, can it be so?

I haven't been there recently, but they certainly were an important part of the exhibit initially. There is a corner of a room that has a life-size cut out of a silverback and then of an adult human, so visitors can compare themselves to the gorillas. Beside that is a pygmy marmoset exhibit so visitors can compare all that to the smallest primate. There's other info as well, all about primates

There is a pygmy marmoset exhibit near the gorilla viewing windows, and it is almost hidden at the back of the room. I uploaded over 100 photos of the Bronx Zoo yesterday, and while I came across a couple of the pygmy marmosets the shots were blurry due to glass reflection.

They do have a very interesting display. With many pictures and books. Outlineing the history og gorillas in captivity if you get the chance to visit.

Interesting okapikpr, i had no idea a permit would be required. Is the permit only required for primates exported from the usa?

I've seen export notices for elephants, crocodilians, and big cats too. I'm not sure about the rules pertaining to a specific taxa...I would think it would be all endangered species.

Does that pertain to US zoo movements or out of country transports?

International transports

However there are permits required for the transport of animals (endangered or not) within the US, but these pertain to the USDA and not so much the USFWS, i think.

I believe that the Calgary Zoo has had perhaps 3 gorilla deaths in the past couple of years, and they are down to only about 3-4 apes in their African exhibit. An influx of 4 more gorillas will certainly create a large family unit once again.
