The Koala enclosure is located at the end of primate place, and the base of the former "hill" enclosure. The current Australian enclosure will be included, which includes red Kangaroo, emu, and wallaby. Another enclosure being built with the koala enclosure is a now cliche lorikeet feeding aviary.

Another lorikeet aviary? I'm sure that space could be used for something else, especially with Bird Landing already at the zoo.

From what I read, the exhibit will also include kangaroos, emus, wallabies, kookaburras, and a walkthrough lorikeet aviary. Even though it didn't say the location, I'd imagine it would be right by the current kangaroo exhibit. My other question was, though, would the current kangaroo exhibit be renovated as part of the exhibit too? I heard it wasn't all that good.

EDIT: @gorgeousingray and siamang 27: You beat me to it.

Has anyone mentioned that there is an alligator in the bird show?

What is the reason for the alligator?
I still haven't seen the bird show. I generally avoid shows, although it's been around long enough and it's at my local zoo so I really should go see it one day.

The alligator is part of the show. It swims in and chases the host.

The 14 million dollar animal nutrition center opened on June 4th.
The zoo has also has a new website design, which I actually like :).
Visiting today, I'll be sure to note any changes!

-Veraux's eagle owl have taken the place of the spectacled owl in wings of wonder.
-Allen's swamp monkey were nowhere to be seen in primate place
-Llama were not present at the large mammal building
-All five elephants were together today, and they should be mixed with the hoof stock (including giraffe) later this summer.
-The smaller elephant yard was empty, which makes me think it would be a great place to put a bull elephant, and I know Knoxville is looking for a place to send their bull.
-The male lions' manes have grown out, and they look full grown, so we should be expecting cubs in the next months-year

    Updates...

They said during Zoobiology yesterday that the introduction of the giraffe and elephants will be at the end of summer. There are 13 giraffe's currently.

Birmingham's are reticulated and a few hybrids. Edward that broke his leg recently and had to be put down was a Rothschild. Is it normal for Giraffes to be this mixed in Zoo populations?

Unfortunately it is normal to mix the two species. In fact your "Retics" are more than likely Roth-tics. The only confirmed pure Retics in the US are in the Sad Diego WAP and Busch Gardens.

Not wanting the hijack the thread for this purpose: is there also a phase out policy for hybrid roth-retics? How did it come about?

Back to Dallas: how many of the above 13 are pure Masai?

None are Masai, all Roth-tics. Just the opposite scheme is in place for NA zoos, hybridize everything, except the Masais.
