The latest Dallas Zoo news for 2014 that I know about is the addition of a cheetah run. It will be located at the long strip of land to the ride of the anteater exhibit.

Here are some more changes at the zoo : 1) The camel ride section has been replaced by a new gift shop designed to look like a safari tent. 2) A new parking lot is now available, but only on exceptionally busy days. 3) One of the collared brown lemurs has been traded for a new one. 4) One of the koalas has been traded for a new one. 5) The administration building at the front of the zoo is now being used as guest services headquarters. The admin has moved to a large building on a hill behind the zoo. 6) The macaw exhibit, located near the main gift shop, has been improved. 7) The Wilds of Africa plaza restaurant and the surrounding area has been completely remodeled. 8) The Serengeti Grill now resembles a pizzeria in its food choice.

Should have been done a long time ago. Most US zoos have been non smoking for at least a few years. Still I am glad they are finally getting around to it (although the several times I visited I do not remember people smoking).
They're adding a pair of capybaras to the bird show. There was also some filming for "The Amazing Race" Saturday.
