A new male Jaguar named Kabah, from Tulsa Zoo, made his exhibit debut today, December 5th. Keepers have been working with him to make him more comfortable in his home, and he is alternating on exhibit with the zoo's female Jaguar, Seraphina, who he will eventually be paired with by the SSP.

Several updates: 2 young female African Pygmy Hedgehogs are now in the Education Department. A Screech Owl chick named Hermes was donated to the zoo in early May. A female White Rhinoceros named Paddy recently went on exhibit. Births this year have included a Bennett's Wallaby, a Linnaeus's Two-Toed Sloth, a Spectacled Owl, a Pied Imperial Pigeon, a White-Cheeked Turaco, and 2 Cotton-Top Tamarins.

Jaguar cub Balam has had to have his right front leg amputated after his mother attacked him when he stuck his paw through the fence. Despite the loss of the leg he is getting along well. Anyone know anything of the last white lion, that reverted to normal color? Could it perhaps be the one that was born at the Henry Doorly Zoo? Also, the cub just opened its left eye. Interestingly, the zoo has a breeding pair of bay duikers behind the scenes. A calf was born 15 days ago.
Fascinating! I wonder how many they have and why they are breeding them, and if any other zoos are as well.
