I chatted with reporter David Peterson last week about zoos in general and specifically about the monorail systems in Minnesota and Dallas. He is a long-time reporter in the Minneapolis area and he has been writing about the local zoos for decades. While I certainly live far away from Minnesota I did visit 90 of America's top 97 zoos (according to the book America's Best Zoos) within the space of 4 years and thus one could argue that fact qualifies me as a zoo expert. Maybe I'll tell my high-school students about my tiny brush with fame, as in the past if I've made it into an article it has been via my alias "snowleopard". I already told my class this year that I had over 800 zoo maps saved in my collection and yet don't own a cellphone and they all rolled their eyes in disbelief.
