My goodness, the things you see on the WWW!
And as I expected, it shows that some of the projects are behind schedule. I heard that they were behind schedule by a month from someone at the zoo, but I wasn't sure if it was true.

Well, for what it's worth, the final phase of Pachyderm Forest has just gone out to bid.

I'm sorry if this is a dumb question, but what does "gone out to bid" mean?

Sorry
It means that construction teams have been invited to prepare bids for doing the job. From this a team/company will be selected to get going on the work. So it will be a couple of months before you see anything happen at the zoo. (Negotiating the construction contract with a municipality is slow work!)

Actually, phase II of the Pachyderm Forest should be finished by late Sept or early Oct, so Billy could move to the new exhibit while they destroy the old one. There has been a lot of construction going on lately and they are working fast. From one week to the next, I actually saw the site go from a pile of dirt to actually seeing the shape of the exhibit and the temporary shelter.

Most of the info in the Monthly Construction Report is behind by a couple of months, so maybe they already found who to do the work.

Of course, anything's possible. And Phase I and II should be finishing up. This is Phase III
Bids aren't due until 9/1 and the City would have some legal problems if they messed with the process

Oh, ok. All this is kind of confusing to me, but I'll get it.

Just found two exhibit concept art. One for The jaguar exhibit in "Rainforest of the Americas" and another one of a new lion exhibit that I had never heard of before called "Pride of LA".

This is the link: pja - projects K-M

just press the ones that say LA zoo and you'll be able to see the pics.

The "Pride of L.A." artwork is very nice, especially with the lions looking down on zoo visitors. The Los Angeles Zoo might just have a bright future...

I had never heard of that exhibit before, so maybe the zoo is just waiting for the 20 year old lions to die before they start construction.

I wonder if that will be a bridge to a second exhibit or just a platform so the lions could see the visitors from up there. If they are using the current Lion exhibit site, I hope the zoo also builts a better giraffe exhibit.

I'm familiar with the planned lion exhibit for the los angeles zoo, but the renderings have been on that website for at least 10 years now.
