The Binghamton Zoo at Ross Park has two 3-year old female tigers on the way!

The two female tigers, Koosaka and Terney, are coming across the country this summer! They will be making the trip all the way from ZooMontana in Billings, MT.

Via facebook: ANIMAL ARRIVAL: The Binghamton Zoo at Ross Park is pleased to announce the arrival of another big cat! Kalinika, an Amur leopard, comes to us from the Philadelphia Zoo. She was born in Winnipeg, and is currently 13 years old. Kalinika will be on exhibit in our Great Cats of Asia building next to our Amur tigers. They have exhibited this species before an is great news for this small zoo. Also the Binghamton zoo is redoing there aviary changing the theme. The new concept being developed and constructed focuses on South America and is a series of smaller exhibits within the tropical plantings. Upon entering the forest you may see Prehensile Tail Porcupines, the colorful Green Aracari, a small species of toucan, as well as Dwarf caiman, a member of the alligator family and Lemur Tree Frogs. Look closely in the largest exhibit and you may find a Coati or maybe a small primate species!

@ blozoonerd: Do you have any photos of this zoo recently? It's been a decade since I've gone and it was bad shape. I'd love to see how it's improved.

I went about three years ago right after they got AZA accredited. I will check to see if I have any good shots.

As per Facebook: August has arrived! August the Arctic fox that is! A two year old male Arctic fox will be on exhibit at the Binghamton Zoo! August comes to us from the Woodland Park Zoo in Seattle, WA and will be on exhibit in our middle zoo area near the eagles.

He'll be a wonderful addition. I'm just worried for him. He's been known to have stereotypical behavior. It increased when he left the Buffalo Zoo that they decided to bring him back to ease his stress. I am wondering if the Buffalo Zoo is phasing out Andean bears (their exhibit was empty last time I was there). I am sure they will keep Diana until she passes, but I am not sure what ever happened to their other male, Fernando.

I apologize for the side tracking from this thread.

Xiao-Li, the zoos adult male red panda has died suddenly and unexpectedly. The zoo had called a press conference to announce Xiao-Li's six month old son was about to be transferred but instead they had to announce the death and that the cub would be staying put until they figured out the cause of death.
