About 200 fish have joined sharks and rays in the Open Ocean Shark Tank in anticipation of the SciQuarium’s Grand Opening on June 29!

Also, a new male Red Panda named Taiji arrived in April a North Dakota zoo.
He has since gone on exhibit.

    From the center's Facebook:
"Over 300 new Amazon fish arrive today and will enter fish Quarantine (watch us in SciPod 4). They will move into the Amazon exhibit in 30 to 45 days. Over 200 rainbow colored reef fish finish quarantine on July 17 and will move into the amazing Shark Reef exhibit around July 20th."
"Three gorgeous freshwater stingrays moved into the Amazon exhibit this morning."
"Have you ever heard of a binturong? We hope to add one to the Small-Clawed Otter exhibit in a few months."

This place looks intriguing. I wish there was a forum and gallery for it as I'd love to see some exhibit photos. It's a pretty nice price to go to an aquarium, museum, and small zoo. With a tamandua and talks of adding a binturong to their Asian small clawed otter exhibit, sign me up! It might be a pit stop if I ever do a road trip to see the North Carolina Zoo.

Some relatives of mine live close to Greensboro, so that's an added plus for me. Plus, I was in contact with the lead keeper there for a short amount of time, and she offered me the opportunity to have some of my Maned Wolf photos (former residents of the science center) on their Facebook, to which I said yes. The SciQuarium looks pretty interesting too.
Here's the latest news from their Facebook:
"We start designing SkyWild - Survival of the Physically Fittest (a physical and fun adventure in the trees) in August. Do you want to get in shape, work hard, have fun and mimic animal behaviors all while bonding with your friends, family or colleagues thirty feet up in the trees and sky? The Greensboro Science Center leaps from Aquarium to Adventure with this next big project."

    According to Facebook:
"Our baby Javan gibbon, Duke, is now three months old and is doing exceptionally well. He continues to thrive and is strong enough now to spend extended periods each day in the indoor gibbon holding area where he can have contact with his parents, Bella and Leon. For another week or two, if you're lucky and the timing is right, you may still see Duke on occasion through the hospital windows in the zoo."
"About 150 new fish were added to the SciQuarium's Shark Reef, including the beautiful Queen Triggerfish!"
"It's official! Following our AZA re-accreditation inspection around December, SciQuarium staff will begin work on SciPod 3 (and more) to add approximately 5-8 new aquatic exhibits including jellyfish."
Seahorses were also confirmed for the new aquatic exhibits.

Shark Reef is officially complete; 138 new Caribbean fish were released into the habitat to complete the list of species intended for the shark tank.

blospz, I have unfortunate news for you...
The tamanduas are preparing to leave for Denver Zoo. Their old exhibit will become home to GSC's Black Howler Monkeys. The current howler exhibit will house a Fossa, who has still yet to arrive from Omaha's Henry Doorly Zoo.
In other news, the center was approved to breed African Penguins a month ago, so the center plans for many penguin chicks in 2014.
And here is info on Phase II of the master plan.

The indoor quarters of the Amur Tigers, the Meerkat exhibit, and the former Black Howler Monkey exhibit are all being renovated, and the howlers are moving to the new tamandua exhibit.
