No news thread for this zoo, apparently the only AZA accredited zoo in Mississippi. So I created a new thread to post this news article. Juno was shipped to the Nashville Zoo on November 3rd and Rosie followed on the 5th. Both made the trip just fine and are settling in their new facility well.

From the zoos facebook page "There is a great deal of animal transfers happening at the Zoo; including our Red Wolf. Our current male is heading to Chattanooga to be matched up with a female. This will leave the exhibit here empty for awhile, but never fear - a breeding pair is coming to our zoo soon!"

Three Beaver kits were born about a month ago. An orangutan was transferred to Columbus Zoo, and a new female named Kimberly was received from Pittsburgh. A renovation of the Amur Leopard exhibit will start soon. Since jusko's post, a new male Red Wolf has been brought to the zoo.
It is the exact opposite. Jackson's Dumplin moves to Columbus and a Pittsburgh female (who I believed to be Kimberly) moved to Jackson.
Sorry TigerValley. I was just using Facebook as a means of finding out zoo events that have happened since jusko posted about the red wolves, and must have gotten mixed up about the orangutans.

Jackson Zoo looks set to lose its AZA-accredited status and the reason will be because of financial woes. The same thing happened to Zoo Montana a couple of years ago, and Jackson has seen attendance plummet and financial stress emerge. http://www.clarionledger.com/articl...s-mean-lose-zoo-accreditation-?nclick_check=1
I just saw this article and looked a photos of the zoo in the gallery. For animals to be relocated I hope the orangs, other apes, and monkeys get another home!
