The article didn't name them and I would only be guessing myself. And I was also hoping for Perenties too. But still a nice trade and the future looks bright.

And we'll keep hoping Mario, now that we see the possibility of trades.

Completely agree, Blackduiker. The trade has many possibilities and the future does indeed look bright. Would be nice to have other Oz reptiles besides bearded dragons and frilled dragons, in Oz exhibits. What's sad is that the frilled dragons used for Oz exhibits are usually the New Guinea locale. I've only seen an Oz frilled at National Aquarium in Baltimore or, private collections.

With the March opening of LAIR, the Los Angeles Zoo has set new spring attendance records. The month of April alone saw over 215,000 visitors, the highest number for that month in over 20 years.

All I can say is, do NOT visit the Los Angeles Zoo on a weekend. From my recent trips it was already crowded to the point of becoming unenjoyable on a Saturday. And now their attendance is increasing? Ouch!

Higher attendance can only mean more improvements. Hopefully this trend will continue.

As of May 2012 the tapir is now in the former hippo exhibit (itself a former rhino yard repurposed as a "temporary" hippo exhibit when the old hippo exhibit was torn down and the space incorporated into the new elephant exhibit).

Which tapir? The Baird's or the Mountain?

The tapir is a Bairds. You might like to know that a wombat will be coming to the zoo in the near future.

Excellent news. The Baird's Tapir is temporarily awaiting its new Rainforest home, while we haven't exhibited wombats for some years now. Still awaiting news on the Sumatran Rhino though.

This is great news! Baird's Tapirs are always neat and the news of a Wombat coming is even better! I wonder where the Wombat will be exhibited...

... and what kind of Wombat. Common (which I presume) or Hairy-nosed?
