Thank you for posting the list. I have been to Cincinnati and to the Zoo there many times and I have been tempted to visit the Aquarium but I have been to some spectacular aquariums like Monterrey, Georgia and Shedd so I was a little hesitant but now will have to check it out.
I am particularly impressed with the number of crocodilians on the list in "Gator Alley", especially seeing Orinocos and gharials on the list. I have heard the false gavial called the Malaysian gharial so I was just curious if they are the true gharial..? I know these are large species so I wondered if you could tell me if they exhibit adults or youngsters and if you might be so kind as to describe the exhibits as far as size, quality, underwater viewing. Thank you.

I'm not very good at describing exhibits... but since I have a picture of every Gator Alley exhibit, I can just show you those:) For the most part these crocodillians are juvenile with the exception of the alligator Mighty Mike, and the Orinoco Crocodiles. Both of which are displayed in the largest exhibits of the area. While Mighty Mike can be seen underwater from the start of the tank to its finish, the Orinoco crocs can only be seen while being on a bridge that crosses over their exhibit. So the rest: Spectacled Caiman, Morelet's Crocodile, Cuvier's Dwarf Caiman, West African Dwarf Crocodile, and Malaysian Gharial are all exhibited in small tanks along the wall (all with underwater viewing and have little land space for the newborns. So here is a photo list in order of what you would see if you were strolling through Gator Alley:) :

And I too have been to the incredible Shedd Aquarium and it without question blows Newport out of the water (no pun intended). The two institutions can not be compared to each other, but Newport still somehow manages grasps my attention on every visit. It is definitely smaller but Newport still has a few favoring features that Shedd does not have: such as having over 200 ft. of acrylic tunnels (with 5 different tunnels), a penguin exhibit like anything I've ever seen, the walls are composed of one giant fake block of ice and when the lights go down, a simulated Aurora Australis comes on. They have a small shark tank that allows guests to touch them (uniquely Shedd allows guests to touch Lake Sturgeons). Lastly they have the largest collection of Shark Rays or better known as the Bowmouth Guitarfish.
