New African Exhibits

The El Paso Zoo will be enlarging its footprint next year with the opening of a whole new section of the zoo featuring African wildlife. From what I understand the exhibit is house giraffe, zebra, and lion. Does anyone else have information regarding this new area?

According to this article, the new african expansion opens on March 13, 2010. Surprisingly, neither the El Paso Zoo website nor the zoological society website make any mention of it?!!

Ok, the zoo now has this link on their website. Apparently the March opening will just feature lions and meerkats, while the giraffes, zebras and antelope will arrive sometime this summer.

This small zoo is doubling in size (from 18 to 36 acres) by this summer, and has anyone on ZooChat actually visited the establishment? A short review would be nice, as I'm seeing if I can fit it into my 30 zoo/aquarium road trip this summer.

Two mobs of meerkats and 4 lions (all from the Oklahoma City Zoo) have been unveiled to the public, and the $17 million African zone will definitely be complete by summer:
