Predators of the Serengeti

I have found plans for the Predators of the Serengeti exhibit which is being built at the Oregon Zoo. This is an exhibit once it is finished I would love to visit. If the Oregon Zoo is your local Zoo I would love it if you could keep me posted about this development.

I have been to that zoo 3 times in the past 3 years, as it is a 5 hour drive to get there. In my thread "Snowleopards epic road trip" I posted a comprehensive review last month, and will certainly visit in the summer of 2009 once both Red Ape Reserve and Predators of the Serengeti open to the public. At that time I'll post a long review on ZooBeat that will describe the new exhibits. The Oregon Zoo has been breaking attedance records for the past few years, and in 2007 there were 1.5 million visitors. I wonder if that number will be significantly boosted in 2009, as it's going to be a massive year for the expanding zoo.

Construction is Underway

Even though Red Ape Reserve was going to open before Predators of the Serengeti, the priorities at the zoo have changed.
Both projects are cooking now, but Serengeti appears to have a slight lead. It should open ahead of red Ape...sometime in Summer '09. |

"Predators of the Serengeti" is tentatively scheduled to open on August 29th, and "Red Ape Reserve" will be a little later in the year. I emailed the zoo and that was the response that I received.
