As far as the red pandas go, well, the red panda exhibit is staffed by the Wildlife Canyon keepers, but I just don't exactly know why they would have any of the red pandas down there...

The zoo's 49th gorilla baby is on its way.

 

Tessa, the giraffe is expecting a third calf and could give birth any day now.

The "Giraffe is Expecting" article on the zoo page says Lulu, the giraffe born in October of 2012, will be transferred to The Wilds in the spring to make space.

 

I thought that Tessa appeared to be expecting the last time I saw her; this is very exciting news. With the recent birth of "Jack" the Bactrian camel, a giraffe calf due any day, a baby gorilla due in July, and the apparent hint of other major births to come from some zoo employees today, this shall prove to be a big year for the zoo in terms of crowd-drawing babies.

 

Im thrilled Jomo and Asha are expecting in July. Jomo was the second gorillas name I learned at Toronto Zoo... after his dear old dad Charles who I have a special love for. Jomos always been a favourite of mine. And hes passing on some great genes with both of his father and mother Josephine being wild born. Im also excited that hes possibly having a second baby with Anju sometime this year too.

Its kind of funny hes about to become a dad again when he just became a big brother again here in Toronto to a cute little half sister.

The three Chipotle Edible Gardens will once again make an appearance at the zoo this summer, teaching the zoo's visitors on how to plant and manage their own produce gardend at home and offering samples of garden produce throughout the summer:

But we still lack the birth of the one baby everyone really wants.

The only baby I've wanted to be born at the zoo for the past 7 years was a gorilla and I'm ecstatic that it's finally happening.
